The Robin Hood Marathon runs alongside the half marathon and for the first 12.5 miles follow the same scenic route.
At approximately 12.5 miles the full marathon runners split off from the half marathon runners and run along the promenade path by the Trent and under Trent Bridge before passing over Lady Bay Bridge, leaving the city and into Nottinghamshire. The route then takes in the National Water Sports Centre and Holme Pierrepont Hall before returning along the Trent cycle path to County Hall and passes over the old toll bridge and onto the tree lined Victoria Embankment to the finish. The race after 10.5 miles is almost entirely flat.
