Both the Half Marathon and the Full Marathon course follow the same route for the first 12 miles, starting (and finishing) at the Victoria Embankment.
Map: Experian Robin Hood Marathon: Miles 1 - 13.1
From the start the route is reasonably level along Bunbury Street, Meadows Way, Arkwright Road, Station Street and London Road. The course then crosses into Bellar Gate and then left into Hollowstone, High Pavement, over Middle Hill and on to Castle Gate. A short stretch on Maid Marion Way leads to a left into Friar Lane and then Park Valley, Tattershall and Pevril Drive lead through the Park Estate to Castle Bvd (3 miles).
After Castle Bvd the route turns right into Lenton Boulevard rises before the left into Church Street (4 miles). From here the route follows Gregory Street, Derby Road and QMC Island before entering Wollaton Park, this year the route changes and takes the upper path past the Hall (6 miles) and then reverses its usual path exiting on to Wollaton Road and climbing to the Admiral Rodney Public House before turning left along Bramcote Lane as far as Brookhill Drive where it turns left to Parkside and the descent to Wollaton Vale (8 Miles).
The route then returns to QMC roundabout via Derby Road, initially climbing gently and then descending past QMC and turning right into Arnsby Road and back to Gregory Street crossing Abbey Street and joining Lenton Lane past 11 miles and onto the Underpass (please take care and show patience here). As you come up from the underpass the route takes Queens Drive back to Riverside Way. (Full Marathon runners: please keep to the right hand side as you approach Wilford Bridge. The race splits at approx 12.5 miles)
The final run-in for the Half Marathon is along the Embankment to Wilford Grove (13 miles) and into the "finishing straight".
Map: Experian Robin Hood Marathon: Miles 12 - 26
Passing over the old toll bridge the race route continues up Main Road (13 miles) and left into Wilford Lane, before using the pavement to turn left into Welbeck Road, across the Masonic lodge car park and left into Balmoral before a right onto Trentside, continuing as far as the Environment Agency where it passes through to Lady Bay Bridge. A left sees the race into Holme Road (caution here as cars are limited to 10mph one way), Adbolton Grove and then left into Adbolton Lane.
The route now follows Adbolton Lane to Holme Pierrepont Hall (Private residences so please do not run through here other than on race day) before returning via the back lane entrance to the National Water Sports Centre, a loop down to the main building before returning past mile 22 & 23 and exiting via the scoreboard road to the Trentside cycle path. The route now continues along this path to Trentside (two way running) where you may pass the odd tail ender or be passed by the front runners. Mile 25 is at County Hall and the Welbeck suspension bridge where you cross back and the embankment comes into view. As you pass over the bridge you initially turn away from the finish before looping back and joining the half marathon route to the finish with 100m left to run.
